Women and Heart Disease

Women & Heart Disease As women, we tend to be everyone else's caregiver -- for our children, spouse, parents and even friends. But the physicians of Oklahoma Cardiovascular Associates and Lakeside Women's Hospital encourage you to stop and consider what you're doing to care for yourself.

Women often voice fears of getting breast cancer, but, in fact, heart disease is much more prevalent in women. However, the good news is heart disease is largely preventable -- particularly when risks are identified early. That's why we're offering two programs to assess your risk for heart disease designed specifically with women in mind:

Cardio Gold: A Woman's Comprehensive Cardiovascular Evaluation

This is an in-depth risk evaluation including a CT scan for coronary calcification, comprehensive blood analysis, physical exam, ultrasound of your carotid arteries and abdominal aorta, complete 2-D and Doppler echocardiogram, exercise stress test, nutritional analysis, physical conditioning analysis, physician consultation, and psychological wellness consult. Click here for more details.

A Woman's Heart: Basic Cardiovascular Risk Screening

This basic screening includes lipid analysis of your blood, ultrasound of your carotid arteries and abdominal aorta and blood pressure comparisons of your arms and legs to detect circulation problems. Click here for more details.

If you're not sure whether or not you should invest in one of these screenings, take this simple test. A score of two or more points means you are at higher risk for heart disease. Women's Heart Disease Risk Quiz
